Protected music on miniSD

I use Itunes to download music. The files that are downloaded are mpeg 4. Itunes file protects the file. I cannot transfer these protected files to a miniSD. Is there a way to change the protected file so that it is not protected?

I believe you have to burn to a cd and then import.

Check the itunes and ipod discussion forums on the apple support page. I believe there are a number of discussions about the topic.
