Discontinued?
A friend of mine wanted to pick up the 5600. I have it and he really likes it. Anyway, he walked into a Sprint store yesterday and they said it has been discontinued.

I was told by a Sprint store manager that some of the high end phones like the 5600 are no longer being shipped to the stores. The stores will have a display model and if someone wants to buy one they will direct ship it to them.
I just got a warrenty replacement for mine yesterday (aug 19th), and it was a brand new phone, not a refurb. The guy who ordered it said that they just got them into the warehouse.

I thought Lock/Line didn't have anymore 5600's? People were syaing htat lockline was offering them MM-535's for 5600's. The 5600 is rumored to be replaced by the 9000 or the 9040. I called Sanyo yesterday and they told me Sprint discontinued it and that a replacement should be coming soon however she wasn't sure how soon.

I've heard the same thing. The only thing that I know is that the new phone should be identical to the 5600 except that it supports the new EDO (sp?) service their pushing. It's a broadband internet service.
Either way I'm looking for information on this phone as I couldn't care less about broadband through phones. Especially when the rep told me if I'd like to hook it up to a pc that service would cost around 40 a month.
I'm new here so I don't know how things really work but shouldn't we at least have seen the phone on the list of phones accepted by the FCC already? I suspect that list/information should be months ahead of release dates.

What did they replace your phone with?
