Battery life
So, I've had my E815 for about a year now. The battery is not lasting as long as it used to. (I used to get around 5 days, now it's more like 3. my usage patterns haven't really changed.)
Is it typical of these things to start to degrade before they're a year old?
Do people usually invest in a new battery?
Thanks.

I just got an E815 this week. I had a V710 for exactly 2 years. Its' batter started showing signs of age between a year and 18 months old, and I finally bought a new battery in April for it (actually bought an extended battery for the E815 as I figured I'd "new every two" after 2 years).
So yeah, it may be a "normal" aging sign. While your usuage patterns may not have changed, were they high usage? About how many minutes a month have you been using it? With my V710 I was averaging 150 to 250 a month and my battery was kaput at 18 months.

My v710 started showing signs of battery degradation after about 12-18 months. I could only get about a day out of it before I sent it back to Verizon for the Class Action Settlement.
I've had my e815 since Jan/Feb and when I first got it 3 bars for the battery would show for the first 2-3 days. Now after about the first day I go down to 2 bars. I usually charge the phone every night and I don't use it much ~200 mins/month.
I think the batteries really only have about a year on them before they start to give out. As far as I know the batteries are not warrantied. I went through about 5 replacement v710s and they kept using my same battery every time. A replacement battery is $40 and $50 for the normal and extended, respectively.

If the phone is still in good condition, yea go for it. I have two (mine and my wife's) One with stock battery and one with the extended battery both are still working great after 14 months.

Actually, I seem to be doing better now. I'm getting 4-5 days again unless I talk a lot. I'm right at 1 year now.
