LG VX-8100

the 8100 or the e815? any suggestions

I waited a whole extra year for this phone to come out when I upgraded from the 4400. I have had the latest update but the people working on the firmware need to move faster. When I went to version 7 it eliminated me being able to go get my downloads back. Basically no Apps.
I have been waiting for sims 2 for verizon. Well it is available, just not to us. I added my brother to my account and got him a motorola 276 and he can get it.
I bought the LG because I thought it was capable or everything. Havent been able to use it as a modem either for my palm. Getting more frustrated as time goes bye. 👿

just so you know, yes, i did search the forum, but to no avail.

so i have a 1gb minisd card as well as a card reader. i have the new version v07. i am having the same trouble everyone else has; music problems.

first of all do i need to format my card first?
i think i do, but i dont know what the LOCK CODE is or where i can find it.

V07 will only accept WMA format right?
if so how do i get WMP10 to convert my mp3's(itunes) to WMA?

i have put a couple WMA files with short file names onto the card but still "no songs found"
is this because the card is not formated?

what about Windows Media Encoder 9, will this help me? or do i need to record with Audacity/Soundforge to remove DRM?- seems complicated/time consuming tho.

i read on a earlier thread that the 8100 supports both GSM and CMDA. how would this work? do i have to get a european SIM card if i'm traveling there? can anyone confirm this? that would be awesome to be able to use this phone anywhere in the world. i was willing to go with Verizon because of what this phone offered even if i had to renounce my european connections. i currently have T-mobile that allows me to use my U.S. phone in europe.

I have an unusual question for anyone out there. Has anyone successfully jammed up there phone so they could not use it anymore and have to go to the store for another one? That is exactly what I am trying to do so I can get the 8300 possibly. I have Bitpim and have tried loading it up with songs directly to the phone but it stops at about 33mb and bitpim won't let me put anymore on there. I have version 08.04. Any reasonable help would be greatly appreciated. I can't upgrade now as I am not eligible yet. Too long to wait. I sure ain't paying full retail.

Hello everyone, I need some direction and I'm not trying to try anyones nerves or anything..I have been through several of these threads (their are MANY).
I'm new to the whole computer thing and even more new to the making my phone personal thing and I NEED some HELP or some DIRECTION.
I have been able to get my phone to play Mp3 now I would like to have my songs play as rightones, I know "the last thing you would like someone to ask I said I'm new and there are HUNDREDS of Threads on here, it will take days if not more to go through them all...
I'm not asking for any one to tell me (but if you like to I'm all eyes "for reading") just a direction to where to go, PLEASE

is there a simple way to uncriple the bluetooth on the 8100? if not can someone help me with step by step instructions.

I purchased the music essentials kit from my verizon store about a week ago and today loaded the drivers on to my computer. i connected my phone to the usb cable and then loaded windows media 10 on my computer as per the instructions... then when i attempted to click on the "sync" tab within wmp it tells me "no device has been detected. press f5 to refresh the player." i am very confused because my computer seems to recognize my phone everytime i turn it on when it's plugged in by making a chiming noise, but then wmp does not recognize that there is a device plugged in... any advice would be greatly appreciated. 😕

👿 😕 all over this site is sum1 saying that this fone has been discontinued by Verizon but that is a straight lie. I called out there at my local verizon and they said they still have them available for purchase in the store.

Over the weekend I got my fiancee over to VZW (she was in the group of people that was going to start getting *charged* for staying on TDMA). All well... that's one way to lose a customer... charge them extra to chase them away. Done 🙂

Anyhow, I got her on VZW with me and got her an 8300. Honestly it was one of those times when I could have just transferred myself over to the newer phone (from my 8100) and let her use mine. She would have been quite happy with that. However, after using her phone for a day I'm glad I decided not to! Sure, it works well enough but I saw a bunch of differences I didn't like...

First off, we all know that the 8300 can't read text messages on the outer display. Dumb that they've actually *dropped* ...

I am so stoked. I bought a new Lenovo Laptop w/bluetooth built in. And then tried syncing up my 8100 to it as a serial port. HOORAY, when I set bitpim to use that port file transfer golore. Yahooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I just bought a new batter for my 8100 on EBAY for DIRT CHEAP.

I got a car charger, home charger, and brand new battery, all which work PERFECTLY (I think this new battery from ebay works better than the verizon battery) for 10$ AND THAT INCLUDES SHIPPING.

This makes me mad. Shows you just how much phone companies rip you off.

I mean, if I got those things in the store it would have been 30 dollars for car charger, 30 dollars for home charger, and 50 dollars for a battery. You add on tax, thats 120$!!! I got it for 10 bucks all together on ebay.

I just got the VX8100 and was considering buying a 2Gig miniSD card to store my personal music collection. Can this be done through a card reader or must I use the VZW music package with the USB cable. Also, is there anyway I can make ringtones from the music I put on the phone? Thanks if anyone can help me out.

After I bought a 128mb miniSD card my battery didn't even last 48 hours with less than a half hour of talk time. Went to Verizon and had them replace the battery but it didn't change anything. As soon as I took out the miniSD the battery worked like it's meant to. Does that mean that my phone is constantly scanning the card rather than just when needed? Has this happened to anyone else or am I all alone?

I'm surprised that there's no new v08 threads here since apparently all new 8100s are 'shipping' with it. I'd like to see a change log typed up to see what's different. Yes, I've heard that there are issues with flashing current devices with this (although I think this is more of a process thing than a technical thing).

I'm also still wondering why we aren't see VZNavigator on this phone... especially given I can pull GPS coordinates from it easily enough. Anyone have any more news on that being available?

I was just flashed with version 7. Everything is great except when I replace the my_ringtone.dat with bitpim. It works fine till I turn the phone off, when the phone turns back on all of my custom ring tones are gone.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way around it?

What is the best bluetooth headset available for the VX8100?

Another question: is there a huge difference between a very high end BT headset and say one that is a budget/entry level one? I'm looking to spend $30-50 for a BT headset.

I am currently the proud owner of a vx8100 and getting ready for an upgrade. The sound quality of the MP3 player on this phone is awesome.

Can anyone and everyone with knowledge of the VX8500 and VX8300 comment on how the sound quality compares.

I have had this phone for about a year, and it seems to by rapidly losing the ability to hold charge. It is 7:43 now, the phone was fully charged as of an hour ago, i have now talked on the phone (two conversations) for about 15 minutes, and it just beeped and i had to plug it in before it shut down. I never have had this problem before, and i have one more year on the contract with this phone.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, what did you do. Any advice?
