is it possible to text message over bluetooth or is this just an urban legend?

looks like one can send a contact to another phone over bluetooth, where the contact's name is the message that you want to deliver. also known as 'bluejacking'.
seems like texting over bluetooth would be a great feature, but it would probably cut into the service provider's revenue (big croc tear).
