Is this the new American Idol phone?
Is this the new American Idol phone? It said Jan is the release date. Hasn't Idol already started? You would think they would release the Idol phone the week the show debuted?

yes it's the american idol phone. Has anyone seen the features(or lack of) on this phone?
I was thoroghly looking forward to this phone, but when I spoke to the LG rep, this phone has almost NOTHING outside of voice/text capabilities. No bluetooth, No EDGE, no camera, NO MP3 player!!!! And guess what? The full retail is supposed to be around 300.00 smackers!!!! No friggin thanks. They must be charging all that extra cash for the neat screen that goes sideways when you open the keyboard. 🙄 yet another LG phone that just doesn't live up...

I work for Cingular dealer, & I just received the "dummy" display model for this phone today 🙄 . The 1st thing I did was look up its specs on PhoneScoop. Very disappointing. It may be a good phone, but just do a side-by-side comparison of this phone with the Motorola a630 or a Nokia 6820 & you'll see what I mean. Why does LG always put out a product that is 2 steps behind the competition? Look at the LG 1400: Great camera feature, but insufficient storage for the photos. Also no speakerphone, and a crummy 3hr battery life. Compare that model to the Motorola v400 or the Sony Ericsson T637. Again, behind everyone else.
I am curious to see how much this will be with & without contract. Even if it is a bargain, I'd still go w...

Just like the last poster in this forum I work for Cingular too. Upon receiving the new LG I was astounded by the girth of the phone. I know alot of you have complained about the features/costs of the LG but the reason this phone was released, as described by Cingular was for it to be a text/instant messanging specialty phone (it actually says "INSTANT MESSAGING PHONE" on the side of it.) No other real features. My guess is that it has most likely been released with these features to compete with the likes of the T Mobile Sidekick. Obviously it is more centered to be used as a Cell Phone rather than a wannabe PDA. Now by no means whatsoever am I defending the bulky, underachieving phone. Rather I am trying to give an explaination. Now...

There's one other thing I've noticed since picking up the dummy model and playin with it this morning. When I hold it in my right hand and try to press keys with my thumb the keyboard keeps sliding open. Not only are the keys unbearably small, but the damn thing won't stay closed so a regular call can be made. I hope the actual phone is harder to slide open than the dummy is, otherwise it'll be a BIG annoyance.
The size of the thing is also an issue with me. I have a t637, and while the two are roughly the same length and width, the f9100 seems to be double the thickness of the tiny t637. It doesn't have a lot of pocket appeal for me.
