Went to Cingular store today... *sighs*
Does Cingular have a standardized response when someone comes in asking about a new phone? (i.e.: "Cingular has a contract w/ Nokia for candybar phones. Would you like a candybar phone? We have ..." - Completely evading the question.)
I pushed the one salesguy a bit further, but I don't think he even had a clue that Nokia makes clamshells. I told him they probably pushed back the date, and he told me that they do that when a new phone's coming out. I should've mentioned the commercial. Does Cingular keep their employees in the dark like this or do they tell them to tell customers nothing?

No pun intended, but the various Cingular stores that I've encountered on the East Coast, the customers know more than the reps. Go figure!!! I've been spoken with the DM in my area and I told him how the sales reps seem to not know anything. Furthermore, the reps want a sale then and they don't want you to come back at a later date to purchase a proposed model. They're coached to sell for today!

LOL, we know what we are told. However, several of us, like myself go out and find out on our own. Reps normally know more than management when it comes to phones. Our Nokia rep here told us that it would be August.

Maybe that's the case in your area. Most of the reps have no idea what one feature is compared to the next. Maybe the reps in your area were actually properly trained. I just noticed that no matter what store I go to that everyone says something different-whether the store is in the same district or not.
I think it"s about time that the US carriers offered a flip Nokia phone. I'd buy this phone from what I know about it now.

I'm from Philly too, and I went to a cingular store Yesterday, and the guy told me that the phone was coming out on August 15th. So hopefully he knows what he's talking about.
