If I can't make or receive a call in the center of Charlotte NC with my 2 day old 8100 with a stub antenna, immagine this thing with no antenna.

You have a defective 8100. I have a friend who lives in downtown Charlotte with the same phone that works great. Just go back to the store and they will replace it.

you definately got a bad one, swap it in a store. within the first 15 days they give you a new one in exchange. also, every lg i have had pulls a great signal so i would be confident in saying that this one will too.
