LG V VX-9800
Played with one today: screen size, keypad size...
My local VZW shop has a dummy in so I played with it for a while, comparing it to my own phone (T730) and Moto E815 and LG 8100.
1- The phone is nice and small. It is as long as my Moto T730 or E815, including the antenna stub. Yea, that compact! It beats the PDA's in bulk and offers similar features. It is about an inch think, but that doesn't bother me. My current phone with an extended battery is about that thick anyway.
2- It looks very good for a "candy bar" style. I am not a fan of non-clamshell phones, but this one looks good and it is a clamshell after all, as it does open up.
3- The keypad is very well spaced, people who complain about it being small must have very large hands. One thing people may not realize is that...

A sliding lense cap?? Cool!! I haven't seen one of them since the 6100. Wonder why the don't include that tidbit in specs. That would almost make my mind up between the 8100 and the 9800.

Something else that is kinda odd is that, according to the specs the 9800 is actually thinner than the 8100.

its still gonna be the 8100 for me...(though I will wait to see the 9800 before i upgrade)....the fact that you can't use the speaker phone in a normal phone position doesn't cut it....

Still haven't made up my mind. I want to see them side by side. I don't want my lens scratched up (that's why I have the 6100) but the labor intensive speaker phone and the extra 200 bucks ... whew! I suppose you could buy a bunch of extended warrantee for 200 bucks to cover that exposed lens

I just returned my 8100 because the earpiece volume was simply too low (at max volume) for me to place calls in a noisy environment. I used the speaker phone on the 8100 and I don't believe I was able to use it with the flip closed either.

Don't get me wrong, but I don't think it was anything with the earpiece volume being too low for you. I think that if hte problem was fixed, it'd be okay.
I have an 8100 and have had MANY problems with the earpiece volume having a mind of its own. Sometimes it's okay ans other times it's so low I can barely hear the other person. Everyone I've contacted at LG and Verizon keep saying they aren't aware of the problem. Only one person from LG has said he's heard a couple complaints.
I'm now on my 8th 8100! No kidding! I "reported" all the problems the phone was having (before Software Version 4) and was given the same runaround. All they wanted to do was keep excahnging the phone. Funny how when V04 came out, ALL the problems were...
