I did check VZW website, and yes it is available. The most interesting thing was under the specs, it was listed as a tri mode phone. Thoughts?

Thanks for the notice. I placed my order and if all goes well, I might have the unit by the end of the week. 🙂 S

I intend to. I guess that makes me a test pilot or a Guinea pig for this phone, however you look at it. I never do this, I usually wait a while before buying something new to the market, but my phone is now 2 years old and crappy (even though it was replaced under extended warranty) and couldn't wait any longer. I almost picked up an E-815 last week, but when I went on VZW site to order one I saw the notice for the 9800, the QWERTY keypad in a small package, totally sold me.
How bad can this phone be. It's from a reputable career and a reputable phone manufacturer with very good track record. I'm sure it will be OK. 🙂 S

I too ordered one to replace my 8100. I tried to order a leather case as well but the Verizon site was sold out. I googled accessories for the 9800 but did not find anything worthwhile.
I would like to find out if the 9800 uses the same data cable as the 8100. I would also like to find a source for a holster or case for the 9800. Does anybody know of a source?

Thanks. I went there earlier and there was only the "coming soon" sign under cases. Maybe one of the 9800 users will post any after-market cases that work well with this phone. I saw some body glove holders at the local Verizon store but won't know if they fit until I receive my phone.

If you already have Verizon service, you can charge it to your account and it won't show up on your bill until the next billing cycle, so you'd have time to save up, but have the phone in your hands now.
