Bitpim USB or Bluetooth?

Which is working better for you all? A USB connection to the phone or via BT when connecting to Bitpim?

I ask because it will be very easy for me to go out into town and buy a BT dongle, but will have to mail order the 8100 cable for the 9800.

Thanks...

I can't speak for cable users, but I use BT and it works great! I personally prefer to go completely wireless. Less hassle, IMO.

I walked int my local Circuit City and picked up a data cable yesterday. I was going to buy a bluetooth dongle but decided to stick with the cable because I also have a vx7000 at home that can use the same cable. I was able to install the Verizon drivers and add some ringtones to my 9800 lat night quite easily. I can't wait for bitpim to upgrade to access the full functionality of the program.

So, the 9800 DOES use the same cables as the 7000, 8000, and 8100???

Please confirm.

Yes. I was able to look at the internal file structure of the 9800 using the above cable. This allowed me to add a ringtone to my phone but I was not able to use any of the "typical" transfer options in BitPim.

It is sorta a do your thing here...

Follow the instructions here for the 8100:

If you choose to delete any files, make sure you back them up, and understand that you make these changes are YOUR OWN RISK....you can mess up your phone making it not work if do the wrong things. Stick with what is listed on that posting, and you should be fine.
