What is the service indicator?

Do i go by the EV or the 1x? (i think its 1x but i didnt wanna be unsure)

I believe It is the 1x. That is what I use since I can't even see the ev.

The EV indicates when you are in a VCAST area, the 1x is 1XRTT. This is the enhanced digital network that VZW runs off of. That would be the indicator that you would need to go by. If you are in a non-VCAST area you won't see the EV.
