cant sync with media player
i keep getting a error that says check your cable connetion to the pc. i've got the software its just not working. my friend has the 8100 and works fine.

i am trying to get my phone to sync with windows media player 10 to load songs onto it. I have the music essentials kit from verizon so i have the cable and software loaded. when i go to sync phone with the player i get a connect failure; please check your cable connection to the PC. 01.01.007.
i even went to the tech support store and had them get me the latest phone update version 05. I have a 1 GB card and just want to load my tunes on it so i can use it as a mp3 player.

You don't have to take the songs directly from windows, there should be a file where all the songs are in .mp3 instead of wma, but theres still a way.
If your phone is flashed then you have to go into the secret menu and turn m.o.d on. That will let you play wma music.

I just realized you probably have no clue how to do that so I will explain it.
open up phone
hold zero
type 000000 for code
go down to #12 music setting
change to mp3 and mod.
Done, now you can sync your windows media list on your phone.

yes i have a mini sd card. it is formatted, it works i have saved photos to it.
my friends 8100 worked fine when we sync'd it to media player. we follow the same instuctions and mine wont connect. i know the cable works cause ive tried it in bitpim. i think there is something wrong with the driver software verizon sold me in the music essentials kit.

One thing that might have been overlooked. If you purchased the Music Essentials kit some time ago, i wasn't originally compatible with the 8300 or the 9800. The one that is currently available will work on all three phones. I have the same minisd card as you and the easiest and fastest way I've found to put songs on it was to just get a USB memory card reader. The SDcard will just show up as a hard drive in My Computer and you can just drag and drop the files into the folder labeled My MP3's.

i finally gave up. i used my friends 8100 and my card and loaded all the songs through his phone and then put the card in my phone and it works.

Hey, I am having the exact same problem. I have a card reader and can see all the files on the card, but my phone only sees ten of them? Why?

I had the same problem. To resolve it I had to install the hardware manually. Hook the phone to your computer and click add hardware in the control panel. When asked if hardware is connected click yes. Install LG composite device. Repeat this time with sync and install MPT device. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Had the same Prob. It has to do with permissions in the registry. There is a microsoft help file on how to correct this.
