what service carries this phone
Verizon can not carry this phone as Verizon is CDMA and this phone is GSM and WCDMA(not the same as CDMA). The only carrier that might get it would be T-Mobile, but I think it will only be available on the Nokia website.

t-mob will not carry this! they don't even have EDGE, let alone 3G. Most likely, Cingular. By the way I WANT THIS PHONE!!

Are all you people that uneducated on the basics of what phones work or will work with different carriers, foreign and domestic. Anybody that is contributing to these forums should know that this phone will not work on Verizon. And NO, it will not be released for Cingular unless the phone comes with the 800/850mhz band.

so you are trying to say it wont be available to the us? I know T-mobile wont have it since they wont get edge until 2007 I beleive thats what I read.

It will most likely have an american version with the 850 mhz band, or at least so we can hope, it will not come to tmobile as they will not have 3G until 2007 [projected date] which can change as the FCC never does anything on time

I have the V635 right now and it has Edge and it still works with T-Mobile. Just because a phone has Edge doesn't mean it can't be used with a carrier that doesn't have Edge. Also T-Mobile is getting edge this year.

They are talking about a phone being released by a carrier not phones working on a carrier, This phone will work on any GSM carrier that uses any of those frequencies just not have fully functioning features, Also EDGE is just an upgrade to GPRS so even if your carrier doesn't support EDGE it can still use GPRS, what people in these forums are saying is that phone companies aren't going to be releasing phones with advanced features that their networks dont support yet, not that this handset won't work at all with Cingular or Tmobile.
