No vision? good or bad?
So this is supposed to compete with the Sanyo 200 as the entry level No-Vision Phone.
so is that a good thing, do people really want a phone that only makes calls and sms?
I can see if a parent wants a phone to give to their school-aged child but doesn't want them to download a $mil worth of ringers, but parents should be teaching their kids not to do that if they don't want to be charged.
For someone who doesn't want vision for whatever reason, just don't use it. (I don't see why this would be a problem, most of us have more horsepower in our cars that we NEVER use)

It's ironic but there are a lot of high-tech companies that don't allow any photography or video recording equipment in their facilities and now days that includes picture phones. So the lucky? employees have two choices - leave the cell phone home, or try to find a halfway decent phone without a camera.
It would be nice if you could get any phone camera-free, but rather impractical for the phone maker. So the high tech employee suffers... 😡

In consideration of those that work in high-tech companies that need to not have a camera, UT starcom, and Palm have versions of their PDA phones without a camera. The sprint stores have the capability of acquiring these at the same price as those handsets with cameras.
This only seems to be on the higher priced pda phones. From what it seems this is because supposedly the employees that work in these places get paid enough to afford these phones. I agree that it would be nice to be able to order (maybe on a special order basis) any phone without the camera, I'm not sure how sprint would feel about this though, wanting to gain the extra revenue of picturemail.

my cousin bought the 200 right when it came out - i made sure she was getting a phone without vision internet (which i wasn't sure she really wanted to do, b/c she had had an 8100 and vision internet had always been highly important to her) - but she told me that the only reason she ever had vision internet on her 8100 was so that she could send/receive text messages (8100, like my a620 - no sms OR mms) via sprint's "Short Mail" (aka "Truncated E-Mail") service (like i am required to do with my a620)...so she was actually happy to trade vision for sms
