the new verizon interface appears to only have 4 bars at max so 1-2 bars means low to middle strength. i've found that when i have poor strength on my 950 i start to hear digital ping/click sounds. when the strength goes up, these sounds disapear. the one thing i will say is that this phone hold on to its connection compared to an lg 6100, lg 7000, and samsung 670. the lg6100 was the worst. droped calls left and right in poor signal areas.

Every Samsung phone I've seen only has 4 bars max. With all 4 bars showing, you have full signal strength. 2 bars is average signal strength. I currently have the Samsung a650 with a retractable antenna, and rarely do I pull it out on most calls. I usually do fine with 2 bars, but I don't know how well the a950 does with 2 bars since it has an internal antenna. I haven't decided which phone I'll go with yet, but this phone, plus the a970, plus the upcoming a930 are on my list, as well as the Nokia 6256i. MY mother currently has the Nokia 6256i, and for what she uses it for, she loves it. I haven't decide what all I'll use my phone for. I'm just keeping my options open until my eligible upgrade on July 1.

More bars in more places are only good if youโ€™re an alcoholic!

You know what I was talking about. That comment has nothing to do with phones.

Judge RF capability by whether you are dropping calls or not. You can't judge by the number of bars showing of the phone. The new Verizon interface shows only 4 bars maximum. The Motorola E815 still has 5 bars but it has its own unique interface, probably the last Verizon phone to have this. In any case 5 bars = 4 bars.
