Windows Media 10 problem
I hope someone out there can help! The IT support staff at Verison have not been able to. I recently purchased the SCH-A950 and wanted to use the mp3 function. I purchased the Music Essentials kit, followed all the directions with installation, but Windows Media Player 10 cannot recognize my phone! My phone easily connects to the computer, and the computer shows that there is new hardware, but the Windows Media Player 10 program continues to say that the device cannot be found. Is there a driver out there that I need so that the program recognizes the phone? Any help would be appreciated!

The cd that comes with the kit has WMP 10 to install, but it also has the drivers that get installed seperately. Did you also click that part to install the drivers also? You may have, I just am trying to think of any reason why that might be happening for you. I know how frustrating that can be!

Yep. I was on the phone with Verison tech support for about an hour, and we re-installed everything to no avail. That person insturcted me to take my phone in to the service department, because it might be the phone or the USB connecter. I did that yesterday, and even brought in my laptop, but even after switching out the USB cable, and using a different SCH-A950 phone, it still did not work. That's when I started thinking it must be a software problem. Any thoughts...?

installed from the CD in order (drivers then WMP10), rebooted. Phone updated to a950 YK24 yesterday. Drivers install, Windows recognizes the new hardware, but WMP does not see the phone. And yes, I did the above...phone says "Not Supported". Did the software upgrade not take properly?

Susan...I just got off with Verizon...apparently there is an issue with WMP10 and the a950. Go to the microsoft support page and search for KB #911091. This is a procedure that with possibly fix the issue. If not, Verizon gave me a phone number to MS for this issue... 1-800 642-7676.
Give it a shot and let me know how it works.

Probably not WMP10 after all. Looks like in may case the phone is bad. The "sync music" option does not work...gives a "not supported" message. The Verizon tech told me to go back to the store and either get it re-flashed or to get a new phone. Hope this helps you.

FIXED!!!! It was indeed a hardware problem that would not let WMP see the phone. Synced abd converted no sweat. Should have done this sooner!!!
Susan...it probably is a hardware issue for you as well.
