I just bought the Music Essential Kit and the micro Trans Flash card. I began reading different reviews and boards about the a950 to make sure that I had all of the things needed to begin listening to music on my phone. However, I have come across many reviews that say due to copy-right licenses I cannot listen to any songs on my phone unless they are bought directly from Verizon, or unless they are ripped from my own CD’s.

So my question is: will I not be able to put any of the songs I download from Kazaa, Limewire, etc., onto my phone? Or will some of these songs that I have downloaded from these programs work (i,e: have a compatible license), and others not work?

I have been able to do the following with this phone:

1) Play MP3's that I ripped from a CD. (Windows media player converts it first)
2) Play WMA files ripped from a CD.
3) Play lots of Podcasts. (NPR podcasts don't work for some reason unless I convert them to WMA myself).
4) Play songs that I purchased on Musicmatch for $0.99 each.

I have the version of the software that has the WMA player and not the MP3 player.

Has anyone tried Napster to go yet?

the WMP10 that comes whit the kitt WILL NOT convert MP3's from kazaa and ect. but there is 2 ways to get throw that:
1-search online for a audio converter, you will be able to find several at diferent prices
2-if you have lots of empty cd you can burn a cd using WMP10 whit that songs you whant to converte then rip them back using WMP10 again. that will solve your problem to. (its what i do)
hope that helps
