Music Essentials Kit/USB not high speed

I went through all of the posts in this forum and didn't see an answer to my problem. I just bought the a950 and the music essentials kit this week. Verizon informed me this is all I would need to transfer music from my pc to phone. After installing the software that was included I tried to sync mp3s from my laptop and it is saying that my usb port is not high speed. I have a Dell laptop that is only approx. 3 years old. One of the reasons for buying this phone was to be able to transfer my music to the phone. Any suggestions on what else I might need to do?
High Speed is an option for USB 2.0. You may have to go into your pc's BIOS and switch from Fullspeed to High-Speed (gran...

You may need to check with Dell and see if a Bios update (flash) is available to add the newer functionality, but its a long shot.
You probably have USB 1.0 or 1.1 which only operates at 12 MBps. USB 2.0 is completely backwards compatible just xfers data much slower. It supposed to work, but not as fast.
Only other option would be to purchase a USB 2.0 PC/MCIA Card for your laptop.

Personally I have two choices for plugging the memory cards to my PC's since their incorporated with built-in card reader slots however, I also have a universal card reader that uses a USB plug, it works great even on my older slower USB PC's.
The default music folder is My_music on the card.
PS Folks:
I've heard that Verizon can re-flash the phones bios to use MP3 rather than WMA. Haven't verified that yet, but I'm heading that way tomorrow 🙂
Q: Did you notice if they offered a re-flash back to the old firmware that has MP3, or is there some sort of compatability issues?
I wasn't able to get over there yet, too busy.

Not sure even a USB 2 card will help. I have an HP laptop w/USB 2 ports (only a year old), and get the same low speed warning. Not sure if it's the drivers or the phone.
Even though you have USB 2.0 ports, they may accidentally only be set to full speed. They have to be set up to high-speed. This will also allow backwards compatibility for fullspeed. Vice versa will not work.
butterflyblonde,
Yes, you can use the transflash card and adapter to transfer pictures and ringtones. You do not need a USB cable to do that.
