Samsung SCH-A950

My NE2 is up tomorrow so I've been looking at some new phones and reading this forum an awful lot in the past few weeks. For awhile now I've wanted to get the 8100, but I kept my options open. Right now I have finally narrowed it down between the 8100 and the Samsung 950, but I'm still looking.
Today I went and checked out the 950 in stores for the first time. I personally do not really like the red on the front of it. It's not a crisp look and it's not a bright red. I also thought the phone felt very cheap and almost fake(that may sound dumb)
I still like the 8100 and the blue on it. I like all of the features as well because I want a phone that is loaded with features, regardless of the price.

Man, verizon can take a good looking phone and make it look like ****! Why make this phone w/ a red face plate and the 8100 w/ a blue face plate? Now i understand some people may like the way they look but my point is I bet there are more people that do not buy these two phone b/c of their color then there are people that buy the phone for their color. So using that theory, why wouldnt they release both phones in silver or black instead of making them look like rainbows. This phone had potential but red and a pretty much nonexistant vibrate strength have made me keep my outdated and struggling lg 6000. VERIZON, will you please make a good small reliable phone that does not look like it came out of a cereal box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I checked this phone out today at Circuit City. It was okay, but didn't impress me much. I definately know now for sure that I like my 8100 better! This is just my opinion, so don't go irate on me, but I didn't like the red color-not a deep red like I'd hoped and it looked almost "sprayed on". Also, the jog wheel feels and looks cheap and the front buttons don't light up (like others have mentioned on here). Inside keys feel sort of funny to me, don't like the layout nearly as well as the 8100 and those too looked cheap. Overall, I thought it felt a little cheap and not even close to the quality of the 8100. The only thing I can say that I really liked better about it over the 8100 is the INtenna!

I’m a recent, and albeit reluctant, owner of the new Samsung SCH-A950, and I must preface this review by stating that so far, I’ve got some very mixed feelings about it. I previously owned the LG VX-8100, and went through three different handsets that all suffered from the dreaded “volume fluctuation bug” that’s been widely reported. After recently losing volume on a very important call, (new, “blue dot/factory fresh” LG-VX 8100 with the new software pre-loaded) I decided that I’d had enough and sprung for the A950.

Can somebody post a link with pictures taken from the 950, I searched HoFo and didnt see any, just want to campare the quality vs. the 8000, thanks in advance.

Was wondering if anyone actually has this phone and has used it. If so was wondering how it works overall. Mainly is the reception good (compared to E815 & 8100), how is the speakerphone, can you use MP3 as ringtones? Any info would be great. Thanks

😕 Just Wondering what you all think?? I'm getting one of these phones but can decide which. I do have to wait till they are both out in VZW stores to get my NE2. A950 has way better price. I was wondering also if you can change the face color on A950?? If anyone has some advice for me that would help me make my decision that would be awesome!

I was considering trying out the Samsung A950 and comparing it to the LG 8100 that I got less than 1 week ago for my NE2. That was until Verizon pulled the 100.00 rebate! Since I got the 8100 for free, there is no way the A950 is worth 150.00 more than the 8100 in my book, especially since I am one of the lucky ones with an 8100 with no volume problems or reception problems.

I got the A950 and I need to get the data cable so that I can use BITPIM. Anyone know where to get one? I tried the one that fits the A670 and it doesn't work.

I had my heart set on the moto 815 and was ready to buy it when the Samsung came out. I am pretty sure I want the moto still, but was curious about the mp3 on the samsung. Anyone have any input? Good bad? Thanks for the help.

Just wondering if you send an MP3 clip to this phone will it allow you to set it up as a ringer (without having to use bitpim)or does it just wind up in the my sounds folder?

If it does allow you to use a custom ringtone then I might seriously look at this as a second phone.

I have the Motorola E815. This is my 6th unfortunately, so I plan on switching phones. The E815 (when it works) gets excellent reception and signal strength. I am curious how the a950 i, especially with it's "intenna". Anyone have enough experience with the phone yet to know? Thanks.

I'm torn between the A950 and the 8100. The less-important features on the A950 (flash, the jog wheel, speakerphone with flip closed, etc.) are making me lean towards the Samsung. Now I know this may sound stupid, but the only thing that's holding me back is the fact that the outside sometimes looks pink 😕 . Can someone give me some advice on what I should get?

Is the Size of the A950 pretty much the same size as the E815's...the E815 is pretty big..i like both phones, which should i choose...i need...good camera quality, somewhat nice video, easy menu's, easy mp3, good sound quality, RF...any suggestions..thanks! 😁

I got one for my wife and I yesterday at Circuit City and one for my friend as well.

It is definitely the nicest of the (all in wonder phones) IE. E815/8100/9800 etc. It's size and overall build quality and feel is awesome.

The inside screen is very nice and of course it now incorporates the LG style menu system like most other new Verizon Phones.

The outside display is fine and has plenty of Resolution and color.

Ringer volume is very loud and nice, they don't supply to many but so what.

The Camera is excellent so far and takes very nice photos and very decent Camcorder videos.

The Speaker Phone is questionable. Sometimes it seems really good and sometimes people here some feedback. But remember so does the E815....

i'm sad... i think that they took away the 100 dollare mail in rebate on the verizonwireless... is it true?

Which phone do you like better? Do you wish you would've stayed with the 8100 or are you glad you got the Samsung? Also, could you list the reasons why? Thanks everyone!
