Samsung MM-A940
Soon to be DISCONTINUED
Just wanted to let yall know that I was at a "Brand Fest" for Sprint, and the rep from Samsung didn't even mention the a940. At the end of his 20 minute presentation, I asked him about it, and he stated that the phone is discontinued. Asking why, of course, he stated that they simply didn't sell enough of the phone, which tanked the profitability. He followed up by stating that the a900 and the a920 compensated, hence their continuation to push these phones.
Final point, the a940 is one of the best phones Samsung has ever made, and it is rediculous they ceased manufacturing these phones. Maybe it's a way to slow the deployment of technologies, which obviously is good for big business.

He broke the release dates into bi-annual essentially. The first half of the year's phones will come out between march and april (all the manufacturers really). I don't remember the product ID's but there was one that was a 3 megapixel camera, and another that was going to support a2dp (stereo bluetooth). What was really cool though was an LG phone (550 maybe?) that has a built in FM transmitter, A2DP, Object Push profile (bluetooth contact sharing) with microSD. That's going to be the phone that breaks the market with the music/phone combo to the masses.

Does anyone know why the 940 is being discontinued?

That was in the original post, unless you were looking for a different opinion.
