New BlackBerry in January 2006 for Verizon? (And I'm not talking about the 7130)
It's thinner, lighter and has loads more features that the BB - I presume this may be the phone your sales guy was talking about

Let's all not forget that this is a) a Moto device and b) a Windows device. The real business user will not want to trust a phone based on these two platforms. Unless of course he's simply after the "gadget" appeal. You want a real, productive tool, stick with the BB.

Please realize many many people would disagree with you and call the BB an expensive device only really good for email. Your comments are indicative of two things.
1. you are a tech oriented person
2. you are incredibly ignorant of "real business users" and their perceptions
You assume everyone has the same knowledge, viewpoints and experiences as you, obviously not the case. Despite releasing some bad phones in the past Motorola is still an enormously powerful brand and has a large following. What about Windows? People are used to, and comfortable with, the Windows look. Look, the Treo 650 on Verizon got terrible reviews, right? And when is the last time that a Windows Mobile product got good reviews? Put them together and it's not a good recipe. So I think it's OK to knock a device given it's track record. No argument there, even from you, unless of course you just like to flame.

Do Blackberries provide the best wireless email capabilities? Probably for most people.
Do they provide the best capabilities for business people who need other capabilities as well? Most assuredly NO.
What do I think mobile 5 has going for it? Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, and IE provide superior mobile office capabilities to blackberry.
If you only need email for your work, buy a BB. If you need any of those other things I mentioned which I know many people could use, go with a mobile 5 device like the 6700.
Also reading your post again, I will argue when you say people should get the BB because its a "real productive tool" you're main concern is email. You tell people that if they...

EV-DO Motorola Q gets official

Ok, one bit of solid product news out of Mobius today: we pretty much already knew this, but Motorola just officially confirmed that they're going to be launching the EV-DO version of their Q Smartphone in the first quarter of next year. They wouldn't go so far as to confirm which carrier is getting it, but it'd be very, very surprising if it wasn't Verizon. So what happens to the EDGE version of the Q they were showing off a few months ago? ...
