locking in to vibrate

Can it be done? Every time I pick up the phone I touch the volume button on the side and change the Razr from vibrate to a ring volume. I was hoping it could be locked so this won't happen.

To answer my own question, go to settings,security,phone lock,and choose automatic lock. This will lock the phone when not in use, but when opened all the options are enabled. Works for me! (Thanks go out to my wife for the answer)
