sorry if these have already been covered. will a standard usb cable work for computer connectivity for the v3c? if so do i still need additional software, what software. without any additional software will it work to charge the phone from the computer.

Yes, the standard USB cable should work to charge your phone via PC. Remember, it's USB to mini-USB. I plugged in mine just now and it took about a minute before the battery meter started charging. So, if you do this, be patient if it doesn't charge at first.
