Motorola phone tools help?
Hey guys i got the motorola phone tools program on my comp and eveything seems to work fine, i am able to sync my phone book and all that but the multimedia studio is "un-click able" and says "this function is unavailable becuse another function or data connection is open, or the phone is still initializing". its been plugged in for like an hour now, how the hell can i got this to work. and is there any other easy ways to make my own ringtone and send them to my phone?

I use phone tools version 4.0 with the razr v3c from us cellular and everything works fine for me. I did notice that when I switch between the phone tools programs I get the same message as you for a few seconds before the programs switch. But it does switch over and I am able to use all the functions perfectly. I have heard of some people having problems with phone tools version 3.0 and if you are using that version, that may be where the problem lies.

You have no problems with it b/c you have US Cellular, which "allows" you to do transfering of multimedia objects (mp3s, pics, etc) to your v3c.
Verizon doesn't allow users to do that since they want users to pay for that kind of service (Get it Now service). They did however release the v3c with the .02 software to allow you to do this (by mistake I believe) which they fixed by releasing the newer v3c's with .03 and .04 software.
I bought my v3c with the .03 and I'm still pondering if I should "hack" my phone to do this. There are many forums about this on www.howardforums.com but it's a lengthy process with many tools to utilize.

You need to change the phone or modem type to v3m (I think that is the choice) and it will work.

Can you describe how to do this? I don't see a setup button on my screen, or on the program that installed the USB driver.

The "tools" you're referring to is Motorola Phone Tools available for purchase from motorola themselves or even from eBay.

I just flashed my RAZR with the new software at the VZW store and now my MPT will not transfer ringtones to my phone. Did anyone else have the same problem? If so, how did you fix the issue. I have tried changing it with V3cm, E815, etc and nothing seems to work.
