Here's my situation: I already have Verizon service, but my phone is pretty beat up so I'm looking for a cheap replacement.
Since they've taken the 2128i down from the VZW website, I've tried looking into replacing my phone with the prepaid version of the 2128i. Here's what I've been told so far:
1) At one VZW store, I was told that I can have my current phone number transferred to a prepaid phone for $15--simple.
2) At Best Buy, the sales rep told me that it wasn't that simple to convert a prepaid phone into postpaid phone, and that they have to be "unlocked".
3) At another VZW store, I was told that prepaid phones aren't "supposed to" or "can't" be changed from prepaid t...

12. How do I switch from Verizon Wireless INpulse service to traditional monthly billing?
To switch your service from prepay to our traditional monthly billing service, simply contact our telesales department at 1-800-2-JOIN-IN to see if you qualify for a monthly-postpaid service. Be sure to use up any remaining time on your Verizon Wireless INpulse account, as we cannot transfer funds between INpulse and postpaid plans.
Okay, so it's possible to convert prepaid customers into 'regular' customers (it makes business sense, right?). So would anybody be able to tell me if there'd be any problem buying a prepaid phone and just having them port my existing phone number?
1- I bought the 2128 phone that was in the inpulse packaging at Best Buy for about $70. I told the cashier that I did not want it activated, that I would do it at home. (This is KEY - do not let them activate the phone at the store!!!)
2 - At home I took phone out of packaging and wrote down the ESN number before I attached the battery and charged it. The ESN is a 12-digit number on the back of the phone in the battery compartment area (battery must be out of phone to see it). It's labeled "ESN" - hard to miss!
3 - So now I logged onto my traditional existing Verizon account online. (if you don't already have an acct you can creat...

I'm an existing Verizon customer and needed to transfer my service from my broken Samsung A670 (damn those clamshells! I'll never get another one if I can help it!) to a cheap new phone. I purchased the inPulse-packaged 2128i from a BestBuy brick-and-mortar store, brought it home, and was actually not able to activate it online through normal means. When I entered the ESN, the website told me to call the Verizon customer service number (800-922-0204) to activate. Perhaps this might mean that they're wising up to us using the cheaper inPulse phones to activate regular Verizon service? Are others still able to activate these according to Hillzy's instructions?
Regardless, I called and spoke to a customer ser...
