Cingular did not make that known to us that was the case when we ordered the phones. The rep said "Crystal clear outer display" and we believed that it would be customizable too. But the phone is excellent, none the less.

It's not a sticker. It is a designed backlight. When the backlight is off, then it looks like the typical monochrome backlight.
