mini SD limit?
Is there a limit to the size of mini SD card the MDA will recognize?
I keep hearing people using 2GB cards but I have seen 4GB cards.

I think you are referring to SD cards, not Mini-SD cards which are slightly different beasties. The largest Mini-SD cards that I am aware of are 2gb. I could be wrong though.

I think they were referring to miniSD which is what the specs (at least, according to PhoneScoop) say it has and they wanted know what the max size card that could be used with this device which might be different than the largest size of miniSD that is made. Does anyone know the answer?

Right now it's 2gb. They're pretty new, you can generally only find them online. I just ordered mine from Amazon via some other vendor for like 80 bucks. Bing bong.

Yes, what they want is MiniSD, however when someone said the largest is a 4gb, that is what I was referring to when I said they were referring to SD, not MiniSD. This device does in fact take MiniSD cards, I've installed a 2gb in mine, and it works fine.

However, ALL SD is moving to a "new" standard that moves it away from FAT16 to a FAT32 standard. (FAT16 only allows 2gig file handling).
The FAT32 will allow SD/minSD/microSD to go to 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, even 32gb capacities.
Some of these are already available (ie: 4gb miniSD can be found).
The real question is whether the device can read them. As they're the same size it may simply entail a firmware update. But it is likely many present device's will not allow for the use of 4gb.
Which is a shame as I'd like to get one for my 6700 which I now use as my GPS. This would allow me to carry all the maps of the U.S. (approx 2gigs) plus have 2gigs for programs and media!

Update: I placed my 2gb MiniSD card in my 8125 last week and it's been working just fine. I've installed two apps to it (Pocket Streets and the Opera Browser 8.5 Beta), and they both work just fine. The card reports 1.9gb (expected) of free space and I've loaded it up with MP3s and Pocket Streets maps and so far so good.
