is there anyway to unlock the t-mobile phone an swich it cingular.....t-mobile sales guy that has cingular

I had no problem getting the phone unlocked, but I can't get the data plan to work with Cingular/ATT. Can anyone help with getting the Data Plan to work???
Unlocking the phone was as easy as: calling T-mobile and asking them to unlock the phone, which they did within 4 hours, supplying me an unlock code by email. Then I registered the IMEI# with Cingular/ATT and the phone works.
Please, any help with getting the email/internet service to work?
