Crippled Bluetooth

I'm about to switch to Sprint and purchase this phone, but before I do I wanted to know more about the *crippled Bluetooth*. I heard Sprints phone's don't have SIM cards, say I damaged my phone but kept the SIM card so I wouldn't have to re-enter all my contacts phone numbers. I've always wanted a phone with Bluetooth, and I was wondering if they have changed it so that you can update contacts through your computer via Bluetooth, if not is there another way?? USB, the Fash card, etc... Also if there has been NO changes to the *crippled Bluetooth* does anyone know whether they will fix this problem or will they just abandon this phone and go on to a new one?

Sprint does not cripple it's Bluetooth.

We do not use SIM cards, which sometimes I wish we did. We use ESNs (Electronic Serial Number), which offer much better security, but you lose the convience of being able to take out a SIM card, pop it in another phone, try it out, then pop it into your old one...

As far as using Bluetooth to transfer contacts, I believe you can, but I haven't tried it with my A920. I just put them in by hand...

Every review I've read says that the Bluetooth is crippled, occasionally I come across one that says otherwise though, I was reading the online manual for the a920, off the Samsung website, and it doesn't mention anything about the Bluetooth function being crippled. Is it some people had this problem because they simply didn't have Bluetooth in their computer, I have Bluetooth in this laptop.

I do know that the A920 supports all Bluetooth profiles except FTP (File Transfer Protocol). The A900 supports all of them. This didn't bother me, I knew I would never use that...I just wanted a Bluetooth headset... 🙂

When you go to get the phone, ask the sales rep if the phone has Bluetooth OBEX profiles. That is the ability to connect (and pair) with your computer to transfer files to and from your A920. The LG 325 does NOT have OBEX, and I'm fairly certain this model doesn't either. It's a real shame that Sprint and VRZ don't allow the handsets to perform the way they were suppossed to. The GSM carriers allow OBEX which is why at the end of my contract, I'm switching. The handsets are less money also. OK, flame on, I know it's about the coverage, which is true, the one I'm switching to has very good marks for this area) but it is also about the features and I think Sprint has lost there way. I don't care about the cost of producing CDMA handsets, some ...
