Cingular Insurance Plan
cairoJan 6, 2006, 2:57 PM
Does anyone have the Cingular Insurance Plan (extended warranty for $4.99 per month)? I just tried to replace my 5600 and they said that the insurance plan does not cover "smartphones/ PDAs". They said that they would replace my 5600 for a 5600 (reconditioned) as a one time courtesy but that they would then cancel my insurance for both of my phones (I have two). Does anyone know if this is true?

thats what i was told too, i also know they will replace the phone up to one full year if there is a defect

Did they cancel your insurance? I haven't got my bill yet and I actually bought two. Thanks Cary Grant.

Yes, they'll cancel your insurance. I have two lines on my account--one being a BlackBerry and the other being a V551. They told me that I can only have the insurance on the V551, but tnot the BlackBerry. They dropped the insurance from the BlackBerry. I have had insurance on the both lines since I started my contract in 2004. All Cingular did was give me a credit for the past two months of insurance that I paid on the BlackBerry.

I was able to get this phone threw my warranty you should always try that first. I had a 5600 that i had problems with (poor reception in cingular areas) and they just sent me this. Now I am in with in the first year of my warranty so that might be a reason that i got the plug but if you are i would look into calling 1800 801 1101 and hooking it up.

This is true. Lockline does not insure smartphones or pda's for Cingular. Your phone would be covered under the one year manufacturers warranty or you would be able to add the extended warranty for $1.99 month. The warranty only covers manufactures defects, not damage, loss, or theft.
