Okay. I've had my t809 for about 3 months, and i was going nuts trying to figure out a way to make mp3s as ringtones. I've tried gp3 format AND mp4, which are all NOT the same quality and clearness as mp3. So one night out of fustration i came back to this forum and found JDOG's way of doing it. He got mixed replies about this way. Some people got it and some didnt. I eventually figured it out and why others probably didnt get it as well

So Jdog's way goes as the following:

1. Put the mp3 song on your phone
2. Go to incoming call settings
3. Select ringtone to see all available
4. Find song you want as ringtone (do nothing yet)
5. Highlight the selected song
6. Click middle select button to mark song (even though it will not allow...

Is it possible to assign individual MP3 ringtones for specific users? I was able to get it to work for all incoming calls, but wondering if it will work with unique callers.

Thanks

sry i still do not understand what you mean by, " YOUR RINGTONE MUCH ALREADY BE SET AS A MP3. If its a midi. " i have done all the other steps correctly so im assuming this is my problem

He means before you start his steps, you must set a mp3 as your main ringtone. It can't be set as a midi.

The phone comes with a few mp3 ringtones so just choose one of those as your main ringer and then you're ready to go through his steps.

hey, i had same problem which i have deleted all mp3 file on my phone so i couldn't set mp3 file as a ringtone( just silent )

so here's what you can do

Download just any HIFI ringtone from T-zone
it will let you enable to set as a ringtone

after that you can set any mp3 song you have just following the original step

2 questions:

1. how much of a difference does .mp3 make versus .3gp? i put the same song saved as both types on my phone and they sound identical???

2. how do you put the song on your phone as opposed to your memory card. i am dragging and dropping onto the drive on my computer, how are you doing it?

1. Mp3 should sound better partly because it is a larger file. Since they sound the same to you, just use the 3gp to save space 😉

2. When your phone is viewed as a drive on your computer (mass storage mode) you are only viewing the memory card. If you are doing the 3gp ringtone method, once you have the file on the memory card, you just find it and you have the option to "move to phone and set as ringtone." This auotmatically moves it to the phone's memory.
The only way to directly transfer a file from your computer to your phone's memory is to set your phone to "modem" and use the PC Suite program.

to be able to get different ringtones for different callers this is what to do:

keep your phone at mass storage. send the 3gp to your other files folder on the memory card. then go into your phones file manager and go to your memory card's other files folder and go into it and choose to send it to your phone...then go into your phonebook and go to change someones ringtone and it should be in your music folder and it should be selectable

to be able to get different ringtones for different callers you have to "convert" the mp3 file to .3gp this is what to do:

take your file "song.mp3" go to it in windows, go to tools >folder options> vieww> then de-select "hide extensions for known file types"

then you song should show up as song.mp3 ....rename the file song.3gp

i'll make it real simple for people who seem to be too stupid to follow the many instructions given in this thread alone let alone the whole internet and if you cant follow these instructions then you dont deserve the reward

connect your phone to your computer via the cable provided with your phone. drag and drop the .3gp file into your other files folder on the memory card. disconnect your phone from the ...

okay uhmmm i found after 5 frustrating minutes that your current ringtone has to be one of the many default selectable ringtones already given to you under the "Music"(for example i used the song "remedy") select one of those, any will work and then go back and follow the steps...

hopefully that wasnt too confusing

sory if it was ☚ī¸
