Nokia N80
Now available!
This version does have quad-band GSM, so it will work fine with Cingular, just not with their WCDMA network.
It also supports WCDMA 2100, but that is NOT compatible with Cingular's WCDMA 850/1900 3G network.
The US version of the N80 will support WCDMA 1900 instead of 2100, so it will work on most (but not all) of Cingular's 3G network.
Will we in the US be able to purchase the US version of the N80 which will support WCDMA 1900 irrespective of whether Congular decides to sell the phone? I would prefer the WCDMA 1900 instead of 2100.
Nokia has certainly developed such a phone and hopes to sell it here.
If Cingular does not carry it themselves, I'm not sure what Nokia and Cingular will decide when it comes to Nokia selling it in their own stores.
Cingular would still have to certify it for use with their 3G network, and allow Nokia to load Cingular 3G software on it, such as Cingular Video.
I would guess Cingular will allow it and Nokia will sell it, but it's possible Cingular could say no.
Thanks for the response. I will at least wait until Nokia opens there store before buying. Are you planning to post your experiences with the N80?

I only had it for a few days, but what do you want to know?
Eric has it now, so if I don't know, he can find out.
We'll have a video tour of it posted soon.
I used the 6270, Nokia other quad phone and the volume strength had to be set to its limit to hear the person on the other end compared with previous Nokia phones I used.
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Thanks
Earl
The software crashed a lot, but then again it was relatively early software.
The wi-fi worked great. It didn't load full web pages as quickly as I expected with wi-fi, but I think the browser can only render so fast. Most of the software runs very fast (especially for S60) so I guess the full web browser is the one thing that pushes the limits of the processor.
