Just want to know what difference does it make if Cingular accepts or passes on this phone? If you want it, why not buy it unlocked and drop the SIM in?
...
I'm not buying the european unlocked version for 2 reasons but the main being it doesn't support wcdma 1900 which means no 3g with cingular. And if it does pass then the cingular 3g will introduce video conferencing so the is the only reason i want a wcdma 1900 phone in US. other than that, i'm fin with my imate k-jam.
also if it doesn't pass i'm going for the imate jasjam with does support wcdma 1900 but we won't know if cingular sets up their vid conferencing without the n80.
IF your on t-mobile, i don't know what is holding you back from getting the european unlocked version.
...
sorry..but I thought the N80 european version DOES support wcdma 1900..it doesn't support wcdma850 which is the stick in the mud w/cingular
...
nope, european version supports WCDMA 2100, not 1900. US version supported wcdma 1900 but cingular wants it to support wcdma 1900 and wcdma 850 on the device.
...
so...If one didn't care about using this phone for the 3G that Cingular is planning but want it for it's other features..then I'm assuming that would be fine?
...
Correct 99.
I will buy it either way.
...
i feel the same way. once the wcdma 1900 is release i am buying one. it does not matter what cingular does. but if cingular offers 3g on the 1900 band or t-mobile i am ready.

Yeah, I'm holding out for the wcdma 1900 too, but if it's not out in another month or two, I'll still get it. At least I can still use cingular's EDGE (I think???) It's not as fast as 3G service, but it's better than what I've got now. 😁
