I too, have a Verizon Q and I couldnt get it to recognize the file, at least not using the embedded browser. I will try it the OTHER way and download to the pc and upload to the Q. But something tells me I'm screwed on that til the next software update.

I have Verizon and the Q and had absolutel no problem getting it to install. I went to the second link posted by the OP on my device and downloaded it directy to my Q. It installed itself and works like a charm.

Wizzard, I first want to apologize if this is too brief to help but I am posting it from my Q.
By OP, I meant original post.
All I did was go to www.google.com/gmm on my Q. Then I selected the "download google maps" link at the top of the page (the page should display as all text on your Q). When I did that, it asked me if I want to download the .cab file. I selected yes and the file downloaded and automatically installed. That's about it.

That feature wont work on a Q.
But everything else works nicely.
