Motorola Q
Long Note to "Ron" at VZW
Ron,
I appreciate your responses. As a stand alone consumer, I realize that an individual probably doesn't merit a great deal of consideration, but I feel compelled to provide some constructive feedback. Please forward this message to whatever persons that may benefit from its content.
Verizon Wireless is an excellent service provider. I have been almost universally happy with the reception and support that has been part and parcel of my experience as a VZW customer.
But, and there is always a but, Verizon has done a poor job of a couple of things:
First, as one of the few CDMA ...

The ETF is $175 not $180. 😎
Alltel has recently announced that they are the largest network in the south. Cingular has just reported that they have the least drop calls.
In reference to the release info on the Motorola Q, i work in customer service and we have basically been told that this device does not exist. Tech support and WDTS (wireless data tech support) have also said that they are not aware of this device. The only problem i saw with your note to "Ron" is that VZW has not officially released any information on this phone. All information has been leaked or it has been published by the FCC, Motorola, or third party site.
I rounded the ETF. Didn't want to be a stickler. 😁
Also, the fact that VZW hasn't confirmed the device was a large part of my note.
"Further, phones are announced long before any official word from Verizon, and the program development, or should I say the all but endless revisions and launch delays, are widely broadcast over the internet , often by folks clearly in the employ of Verizon. While I understand that VZW retains plausible deniability by virtue of not officially acknowledging pre launch information, it is a thin defense that is recognized to be dubious by virtue of a great deal of historical evidence, and it is not respected."It's ridiculous how shoddily they guard information, but STILL...

When I said "...the better part of a year after the official announcement that the Q would go into production..." I was talking about Motorola's announcement, I see how that could be misleading.
That was probably the most well written, well thought out, detailed post I've ever read on this entire site.
I could not agree with you more on your thoughts about VZ's technology, their network and their competitors ability to come up from behind and snatch their business. As you've said, we've reached a turning point and VZ's biggest strength was its reliable service - and now it's biggest competitors are becoming just as reliable. They've already got the phones so the playing field is becoming level. We can only hope that your message does not fall on deaf ears.
Also, this is the most comprehensive mobile phone website on the internet. It's viewed by thousands of subscribers. It would be nice to get some word i...

This address is to the "big dogs" so to speak. Make sure you include your mobile telephone number and they will respond. VZW does care about their customers, its just hard to take care of all 51.3 million customers.

😳 Come on, it takes a long time to disable all the features and get the UI ported over to WM5 Smartphone edition. They will eventually get it out.
Work on reading comp a bit dude. Some of the material clearly fell under the general comment heading. And further, some were meant to be ridiculous.
That bit about the GUI was meant as both.
But, yes. Disabling features will likely be a part of the Q launch. Specifically, I expect VZW to destroy the BT stack by eliminating things like BT DUN and OBEX.
Sure it'll be out eventually, but if you're interested in this device, and not frustrated with the fiddling around, and lack of drive that seems evident in it's deployment, you're in ...
