Do I need this phone?
Silly question - I'm really intrigued by this phone but not sure if I really "need" it. I do not need to access e-mail frequently for work. What would be the compelling reasons for owning this smartphone as opposed to a simple phone?

The crazy thing is if you want to access e-mails and the internet on this phone, you will have to pay VZW about $27 a month for limited access and $40 a month for unlimited access.
I'm legally blind and a software company by the name of Code Factory makes some software for PPC and Smart Phones that allow almost every function on the phone to be spoken aloud, including text messages.
This would be very convenient for me since VZW doesn't carry a regular phone that is able to do this. I'm still very tempted to pay for the unlimited internet access, though.

Thanks. I currently use a Palm device for all appointments and contacts. So the only real advantage I see so far is having my phone and pda in one device. But I suppose it would be convenient to have that e-mail or internet access when needed. Any other need for this phone that I'm missing?

If you want to call using Orb a need.
Their free service allows you to view/listen to all your photos, music, and videos, from any computer or mobile device with internet access. You could even watch tv if your home computer has a tv tuner.
The Motorola Q and other Windows based mobile devices should allow you to use this service.
Not a need, but still cool.

Wait - seriously? That's what you have to pay on top of your regular VZW phone charges, just to get your email? Please indulge me for a few moments. What does the limited access provide - what are the limits?
And does this crap also apply to the Blackberry? Is it also this way on other networks?
Thanks.

That's the information they gave me concerning the 6700. Give them a call to get more thorough information.

You're right.... Verizon's unlimited data access is an ADDITIONAL $40/ month on top of voice compared with Cingular's $19.95.
I think you need the unlimited plan with this phone.

That sucks.
Now I'm not sure uf I want to get the phone and not get the internet access for it (that wouldn't make much sense), or gulp down all the money I'll spend on the phone and service.
