Motorola Q
does web browsing require the $40 data plan?
However, can you use the web-browser if you currently have one of the Text Messaging + Mobile Web options (ie: the $7.99 200 text messages + Web 2.0) plans?
Or does web-browsing also require the $40 data plan?
Thanks.
That's why everyone is so concerned whether it will support the wi-fi sd card.
Many members and I have been trying to find out if the Q will support it, but no confirmed information is out concerning this.
I hope it does though. This would make a big difference.
I already have a blackberry for work (but I refuse to use it as a phone or to carry it on weekends). I won't be enabling POP3 e-mail on my Q, and don't see the need to spend $500 per year ($40/mo) just to surf the web slowly on a cell phone.
I am correct that I can buy this phone and just take advantage of the QWERTY and other features for the "PDA" type purposes, and text messaging benefits - and in that case I could just have a normal voice / text messaging plan without needing to spend $40/mo on data - right?
Meaning - just because you buy this phone - you don't HAVE to get the data plan - correct? Or does Verizon require the data plan in order to activate this phone for voice?
Thanks.
Just for reference though, surfing on the web wouldn't be that slow on this phone since it is a vcast phone, as long as your in a vcast coverage area. It would actually be faster than dial-up, and if you have a good signal, you might get speeds that are comparible with some slower broadband services for the home.
Why doesn't Verizon offer a $19.95 data plan like Cingular. Or how about a scaled down plan for web-browsing without e-mail synchronization? I'm just looking to hit a few web pages - that's all.
