What is the guesstimated price?

I have been doing some reading on the web and everyone has a guess as to what the price will be ($2500, $800, $400, etc.).

Do anyone have a REAL number?

Thanks,
Todd

my guess unfortunatly is 619.00 because that's how much the treo 700 would be if i upgraded right now (my contract is still newer) so I'm sure we can expect to pay anywhere between 499-619...in my opinion.

$619 is the full retail price on the treo 700w. The two year pricing of the 700w is $499. No information has been released price wise.

he asked a guesstimate...so i guesstimated..in no way do i know exactly what the cost will be...but as we all are wanting this Q so much, we have to be budgeting for it? and thus my budget will be 600...hopefully it will be less...i really hope so!

I talked with a Verizon dealer about a week ago and he felt that they would price the Q aggressively. No number was stated.

Just FYI, with the correctly worded statements you can actually get the treo 700w for $399 from verizon if you are just shy of your first full year with them (and if you get the unlimited data plan). I just did, shipped out yesterday should have it next week.

On VZW sales information from April 30, 2006 - June 19, 2006, it gives a complete listing of the prices of all phones VZW will carry and their prices. The motorola Q is not on this list. This worries me. 😢

The Q will run Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smart Phones, while the Trio 700W runs Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PCs. This is the reason why the Trio has a touch screen and the Q doesn't. These facts alone makes the Trio a more capable phone.

The Trio also houses one of the fastest processor found in mobile devices. The Q doesn't, although its still not a slow processor.

Technically, the Trio is a step up from the Q, but the Q is way cooler.

I'm hoping that these facts keeps the price on the Q lower than the Trio's price.

Then again, VZW may want to use the cool factor to bring the price on the Q up. We'll see.

I don't know if I agree about the touchscreen.
From everything I've read/heard - a major downside of touch-screens is that they don't have good contrast and can be very difficult to see in bright light (outdoors).

I don't have a touchscreen phone, but I can confirm this for any touchscreen PDA I've had, as well as any touch-screen I've ever seen (ie: ATM's, PC's, etc.)

Read the review on the MDA (front page of phonescoop)... they say the same thing.

I've heard the screen on the Moto Q is MUCH sharper than the Treo's.

I guess if you can navigate effectively with the 5-way joystick and the thumb-wheel - there's no reason to need the touch-screen - right? I've never missed this functionality on my Blackberry.

I'm not saying I like touch screens better. Actually, I'm legally blind, so they don't work for me at all.

The point was the price of the phone. This technology cost more to put on phones, and is more of a selling feature.

These factors should make the Trio more expensive than the Q.

I guarantee the Q will be as much as the Treo or more specifically for the cool factor. Just look at the razr, full retail on that from VZW was $400 for the longest time though I think it's now come down a lot. Tack on PDA/Windows Mobile etc EASILY for $200+ bringing it to at least the $6XX.XX range.

See my post below "New Info From Verizon."

The inside man I talked to did indeed hint that I should wait a bit for them to debug it before buying, but he also said (without naming a number) that "it looks like it is going be be pretty reasonably priced."

I take that to mean it will be $499 or less, since that is the cost of the Treo. Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but if it were going to become their most expensive phone, and he's already warning me to wait for them to debug it (i.e., he's not trying to push me to buy it), why on earth would he throw in the "reasonably priced" comment?

Just my 2 cents worth.
