Backlight off, help needed
jmotoMar 1, 2008, 10:08 PM
Hello! I am hoping someone can help me. I accidentally set my Backlight to "off" and now the phone screen is completely dark and cannot get it to light up at all. The manual seems useless for this because it says (under troubleshooting) that if the backlight is set to "off" go to the Settings menu, etc etc, but since I cannot see a thing, how can I follow the menus? I am completely frustrated! (I otherwise ADORE this phone, and this is the first problem I've had.) Does anyone know the secret to solving this? Thanks in advance!!

Happened to me, too. The screen is still there: to see it, hold it up in bright light, close to your face, and you can see it faintly. You might have to turn the phone slightly to get a good view. Follow the menus to turn it back on.
Now maybe you can help me! When the screen blanks to save the battery every 10-15 seconds, what is the button to press to turn it back on WITHOUT losing what you were working on?

To Dave Davis: Good follow-up question. That's my question too. If my phone gets a message, and it's on the screen (backlight off), I can't read it, and pressing any key causes the message to disappear and does what the button says to do. The closest thing I've found to a non-disturbing button is the red Power/End button.

There is a solution, but it requires a flashlight. You can shine the light on the phone's window and be able to read what is says behind the dark screen. Then just follow the steps Menu button -> Settings -> Other Settings -> Initial Settings -> Backlight, and Select 20 seconds again.
