don't buy if you want to hear your caller
When I bought the phone, I really liked (and still do) the style/bright display/etc. Now, I find myself more and more annoyed that the earpiece volume is awful. The volume goes up to "5" and would be fine if it went to "10". People I call have a hard time hearing me clearly as well.
I switched my SIM card back to an old Nokia and couldn't believe the difference.
In short - looks great; performs terribly.

I agree. Volume needs to be twice as loud. I have to put it on speakerphone and hold it to my ear to hear in the car.

My wife has this phone and it works for her...but there's a reason why. The only time she really had a problem with the call volume was when she was in her car. I just installed a Motorola Bluetooth hands-free car kit for her, and now there is no problem. The phone volume is fine everywhere else, and the car kit has adjustable volume while driving. Plus there's that whole safety thing with the hands-free. 🙂

I emailed Samsung Customer Care to let them know what I thought about the phones poor volume and asking when they were going to fix it.
This is what I got back...
Deawr Chris,
Thank you for your inquiry. To increase the volume on a call select the volume key on the right side of the SGH-D807 and press up. We will forward your concerns to the appropriate parties for review and consideration.
Your interest in Samsung products is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Technical Support

Somehow I don't feel like a Cared for Customer.
Time for a new phone.

That's great! I love that response.
I am waiting until Nokia releases a new phone in the same "slim-style" that samsung is offering and I bet it will actually function as a good...phone. No more Samsung for me.

Especially considering that the volume buttons are on the left side, not the right. Tells you what they know.
