Save contacts to phone or sim or memory???

I'm 99% sure I'll be getting the W810i next month. This will be my first phone with a SIM card and I'm a little confused. If I build a contact list in Outlook and then transfer it to the phone, do I want to save the list to the SIM card, memory card, or the phone's built-in memory? What's the difference? Sorry if this is a really dumb question. 😕

I also transferred from a non-sim phone company. On the 810 I store it all on the phone and have it automatically back it up on the SIM. The bonus is that the phone saves and displays the information better than the SIM does. But if your phone dies or something, it's nice to have them in some form on your SIM to save you the time of reentering.

And get the phone. It's the best phone I've ever had. My Sprint friends are super jealous.

Thanks! So I assume the instructions are clear on how to do that? How much memory does the SIM card have? If I have 60 or 70 contacts (each with 2 or 3 numbers) will the SIM be able to back them all up?
And yes, I will definately be getting the W810i....
