Just got my new phone from Cingular, and it goes black in 3 seconds. Not enough time for me. I can't find a fix. Is there one?

Same here, just got my phone, dispointed that there are no settings to control how long the back lite lasts, or how long until the keypad autolock turns on. ALl my other gadgets have settings to change the back lite timeing ☹️

I'm guessing that this is yet another indication of how badly Cingular has totally f-cked up what is a great device with their in-house nonsense, which is tailored to idiots.
The Cingular manual for this phone is one of the worst I've ever seen. What it doesn't tell you could make another manual twice the size.
The phone provides for POP e-mail; Cingular forces you to use newbie/novice services like AOL and Yahoo.
The phone allows the assignment of any MP3 files as ringtones (it will edit the length automatically just like the Z525a did); Cingular places restrictions on the file size of ringtones, thereby disabling the feature and hoping that users will buy their craptones.
