All,

Maybe those "in the know" can clear this up for me...

Stopped into my local Cingular store to inquire once again about this phone; same crap about ETA until I pushed and it seems mid-July (next week or the following) will be the drop.
However, what I was told next really pissed me off because I have been waiting for soooooooo long for this phone for one main reason: it is supposed to be a quad band phone.

The Cingular store reps told me that they have it listed as a tri band phone and that it is quite possible that the version made for Cingular will be downgraded from the original quad band version to a tri-band version. If that turns out to be the truth 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 .....

I think it will be quad band. Don't believe everything you hear from the sales rep. A lot of times, they're out of the loop (not their fault) because they don't have the info.

Hi spirt22,

According the Nokia USA website...
http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6126/0,7747,fe at:1,00.html

... the 6126 is quad band. Of course that isn't to say that the specs couldn't change or that Cingular woudn't carry a varriant, but from the info available it looks as it should be Quad band (850/900/1800/1900).

Also that said the 6131 is available online from many different retailers as well (though no contract pricing). I've seen the 6131 as low as $259 (www.myworldphone.com).

Hope this helps.

Anyone have any more info as to the success or failure with MMS on the 6131?
I've heard mixed reviews.
Spoken to a couple of people who have it working just fine and a couple with failures.

How do you tell when a Cingular rep is lying? When his lips are moving.

This phone is QUAD band.

Well, I talked to a Cingular rep today and he said the same thing. He said that the phone was "Tri-band" and that Nokia North America doesn't make Quad band Nokia phones. I told him that it was in print on the Nokiausa.com that the phone was QUAD BAND! But here's a piece of info that a rep told me 3 months ago. He said that in order to NOT piss off Motorola, they wouldn't have a Nokia quad band phone for sale. That Cingular has an "arrangement" and "relationship" with Motorola that they (Cingular) are not trying to upset. Is that a riot or what?

The rep is an idiot. Cingular uses 1900 primarily and has some sites and roaming arrangements with 850.

Go to Nokia's website and see the specs. They are still and always have been quad band
