NEW RELEASE DATE
Ater having talked to cingular customer support, cingular-nokia sales, nokia customer support, nokia phone sales, chicago's nokia flagship store, cingular corp stores, independant cingular stores, checking the astrology and horoscope, tarot cards, checking out the ouji board, I have come to the conclusion that the nokia 6126 will be released from 5 minutes after this post to sometime in 2007.... maybe. whew, I feel better now. Sorry for the ranting and the sarcasm.

Got a phone call from my local Cingular store today.
The store I deal with is a small family owned franchise and the people there are actually quite nice and have always been honest.
They say the release date for the 6126 has been pushed back to August 13th.
Again, they called ME to let me know.

That sounds about right. Howardforum sources say about that time as well.
Mobilbee.com says to have 6126s at $259 w/o contract. I bought one and will confirm its authenticity next week.

The 13th is a Sunday... Does Nokia typically release on Sundays? Also, will this be a web first release or will it be available in stores that week?

Well, I should have known. I got the runaround from Mobilebee. Their site said they had it, but they told me today, after almost a week of "we will ship it when we verify your credit card info" that it was for a pre-order. When does "available" on the stock status mean pre-order? I cancelled my "pre-order." 😈

the Nokia 6131 is available thru online merchants such as www.myworldphone.com (i've ordered from them in the past w/o issue), if you'd be interested. I looked at the device specs for each both on nokiausa.com for the 6126 & nokia.com european regional site for the 6131 & really can't see a difference technically. Even the specs on http://forum.nokia.com/devicies (a developer type info site) pretty much has them 1 for 1 aside from the listing of flash-lite 1.1 on the 6126 but not 6131, i think this was an oversight though.
but of course no carrier subsity, but it is unlocked so you can pick your GSM carrier at will.
