6126 or 6131?

Trying to compare the two models, but can't seem to find a clear description of the difference between them. I'm just mainly using the phone for call purposes. Also using Cingular service. Any suggestions/advice?

Thank you! 😁

There is no difference in the phones, other than having a warranty and support. With Cingular not picking it up there is a very slim chance of seeing the 6126 becoming available.

The only suggestion that has been given for 6131 users on Cingular is if you have VMI issues to get the Cingular 64k 3g sim. Otherwise it works great. 😁

Thanks! I have read earlier that this phone was no longer going to be offered by Cingular, but I figured I would buy one from Amazon or other places that sells them unlocked (any suggestions there?). I also saw people who have either the 6126 or 6131 with Cingular, and was curious if there was a difference.

One more thing....if I were to buy a 6131, I could get that 64 k 3g sim through Cingular without a problem?

Thanks again! 😁

The ones Amazon is taking orders on are locked to Cingular. You have to purchase a new plan. There is no one I know of now selling them unlocked.

You should have no problem going to any Cingular corporate store and gettinga a new sim, but I would wait to try your old sim first to see if you need one.

I just saw the post on how a Nokia rep said that it is (supposedly) confirmed to go on sale through Cingular in early September. As far as the sim card goes, I don't have one. My current phone is through Verizon.

Amazon.com says they cannot offer the 6126 with the rebate AND have the phone number stay the same. It's either new number and rebate, or $199 for the 6126.

They DO however, have the phone in stock and will ship it in a week to 10 days.

Aside from having an unlocked phone, can anyone tell me a difference that would make the 6131 a better phone than the 6126?
For reference, the best price on an unlocked 6131 I've found is about $270

Any advice is appreciated

It only makes it possible to use on any GSM carrier. Locking it to Cingular makes it unusuable on any other carrier until it is unlocked. The 6131 is no better than the 6126, except for having a warranty and support.

If you are on Cingular the VMI is a regional issue. Some areas have problems and others don't. People on Cingular have been solving the problem by getting the 64k 3g sim card.

Do you know if the 64k 3g sim card has also worked fixing the video messagin problem that some people have had?
Or are there other ways to deal with that problem?

The Amazon person I spoke with DID tell me that if I ordered the phone it would ship in 7-14 days.
They mentioned nothing about not carrying that particular phone, though I admit I didn't ask either.

The only difference between the two is that the 6126 doesn't have FM Radio and an IR Receiver.

Get the 6131.
