Question about Samsung d407 side buttons

Does anyone know how to lock the side buttons.
They are very annoying.

menu>settings>#4 phone settings>#4 extra settings:side key pad lock

Then hold them down it will lock when you unlock them they will be unlocked

obviously i own this phone

How do you KEEP the side buttons locked after you flip it open??
