Those of you that ordered it right away and asked for overnight shipping should be getting your brand new 6900 this Monday. My tracking number shows it is just a couple of hours away.

I dont understand why someone would pay so much for this thing. I initially wanted one, but now i hear of several far more technologically advanced phones coming to cingular by the end of this year. It seems pointless to invest 600 dollars in a practically out of date device that has been overdue for about 9 months. I dont know, that is just my opinion, but I am waiting for something better. Unless the cingular version is better, and 200 less, i am keeping my money for something else.

WOW! Troyboy. Thats quite some statement given the intention of my post. Especially since I wasn't selling the product and was clear on my desire to have it. But if you insist:

1. Sure it's expensive to some people I admit that. However it is exactly what I need. Seasoned PDA users will appreciate this and appreciate it is not necessarily a phone first.

2. It's actually here now and not just something your hearing about.

3. This is very important and I have learned this after being a techno geek for many years: There is always going to be something better and I doubt you are going to save much more money. If you want to wait for something better you will always be waiting. Will the price be lower later on. Sure but I am ...

So you are using your unlocked phone with cingular? Also since some people will be getting the phone today (maybe) and the rest who bought from HP sometime this week. I hope you will give us here a some feedback or review. Likes dislikes. also what service you are using and what market your in. I'm really thinking about just getting an unlucked phone.

i dont mean its a big deal being under contract. It just reduces the price of the phone if you buy under contract. I was morely referring to the fact that cingular or any other US carrier has not yet released the phone, and the only way you can buy it is for full retail on HP.com. With its features, i just dont see a 600$ value in the phone. Thats all. Of course i WOULD want one as well, but it would have to be much much less then 600.

Okay just got it a couple of hours ago. Yanked the T-mobile Sim out of an old Nokia 6600 put it in the 6945 and it works fine. I haven't signed up for the GPRS yet but the wifi works good out my office wireless. As a long time HP PDA owner the interface is pretty much the same screen user operation but a little quicker. I can't compare the button and text usage for you as I didn't want a Blackberry so this is my first. My thumbs feel huge and guess I will have to get used to that. The GPS appears to lock on the sats at about the same speed as my car unit. I am waiting for teletype mapping software to use so didn't download the MS streets. Played with the IR and bluetooth to the lcd projector on the power point and man that is going to ...

Phreddy, thanks for the review. I have some questions for you. Does it cost to downalod the MS streets? Does it come with a map? What is Teletype? Also the GPRS doesn't come activated? or is cuz u got from HP you hahve to activate it do you go into a Cingy store to have it done? Have you tried the blue tooth with a BT headset?

How is the phone? does it sound good? Does it have good reception? What market are you in?

Hi Reidraw. I am not using Micrsoft streets so I didn't download it as I am not real impressed by it's utility. It came with street disks and it is a trial addition...I think you pay 60 bucks for it after the trial. I have used Teletype mapping software because unlike some other companies you can us it on your main computer then download sections into your PDA storage card. Much more sections at a time than the MS streets. I haven't ordered the new version yet so I am unable to tell you how it will work out but Tech support assures me it will (heard that before). I have Tmobile so I just put the chip from my existing phone into the 6945. I then activated both the GPRS and Tmobile hotspot over the phone in just a few minutes and it's abo...

hmm I thought the phone came with one free map of the city of your choosing. Now they are giving a trial version??!!! That sucks and another reason HP adn Cingy are full of it. Maybe even false adv. charge should be brought against them.

I dunno. I always saw that the software was some sort of trial but I may have missed what you read. I just tried the GPS and on basic quick and dirty software and it locked very very fast. Better than my previous unit.
