Can you use the Navigator with the phone closed and have the screen flipped around as if you were going to take a picture? thanks in advance.

No, When you flip the screen and close it, It automatically activates the camera mode.

I just got my phone last week and was using Navigator over the weekend. You CAN twist the screen around while using VZNavigator and it stays active; the camera does NOT start. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to use the menu options that are available when the phone is closed.
