black berry you've still not impressed me! I'm a treo fan, those are amazing!! Black berry, still no camera wow, sux for you.
YOU NEED A CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! đĄ
...
Um, ever work for a company that does not allow things called cameras to be carried in & out by employees?
In corporate USA, that's how it works. And that's wht there is a thing called a Treo with no camera option.
Get it?
...
.....as you said, "there is a thing called a Treo with no camera option." This implies that there are Treos with cameras. Wanna know why? Because companies allow them.
I see we're gonna have to do this long and drawn out....
Overall purpose of a company= to profit
How can one profit?
Sell products with mass appeal
In corporate USA, there are many security protocols implemented ERGO it would be most profitable for to make devices with and without cameras...
DUH!!!
...
There are also quite a few companies who want to provide devices for their employees. Most of these companies don't see the overall need for a camera in a device which is issued strictly for business use.
Now you and I know that many of these people who get devices from work use them in business AND personal manners, but the whole point from this particular perspective is to make sure the emp's are being productive, not having fun.
Before anyone goes off on how a camera can be productive, trust me, as a sales rep I know. However, corporate use still doesn't necessarily require things like a camera or Media playing capabilities, and business is, after all, what BlackBerry was made to do.
I would still prefer a touch screen though.....

Without a megapixel camera, or other up-to-date features this just isn't a winner. You need to be innovative to be in demand.

I think that the increasingly high demand for BlackBerry devices disproves that comment. I mean come on...remember how many people were SOOO upset when it looked like thier BB's were gonna get taken away.
The demand is obviously there even though the device hasn't changed that much nearly since its inception.

two questions: are touch screens more fragile? and should I purchase this device over the 7105 over at T-moble? Basically, is it worth paying and extra $100 for the phone and $20 more a month for service?

skyjet15: If I'm not mistaken, Cingular has a new data plan for Blackberries (not including Enterprise Server Connections) that only costs $30, which is $15 cheaper than before. Of course, if you need access to a BES, then it's still $45. I would go with the Cingular one. You will love it!

Not if you expect to bring your cell phone/PDA into the courthouse. Some courts and companies have privacy concerns that preclude persons from bringing cell phones/PDAs with cameras into the courthouse or workplace.

yes yes, okay i got it đ

I know you admit that you realize the difference/popularity, but to add in.....
I work at one of the busiest data cingular stores in my area and we haven't sold a Treo in about a month. Most people quickly gravitate to a BlackBerry or Cingular 8125 after looking at the Treo's. We also have a list of about 10 people waiting for the 7130 and about half of those are going to be paying the full retail price because they're not eligible for upgrades.
I've never seen a BlackBerry freeze, so I think that's why they are more popular than Treo's.
As soon as we officially support the Microsoft Direct Push, I think devices like the 8125 will quickly take over BlackBerry's share and squeeze out Treo except in instances where there's softw...

I was at the Cingular store earlier today. I've never played with a BB before. I was actually more drawn to the 8700c (in part to the gorgeous screen and ease of full QWERTY keyboard). I talked with the salesgirl about the Treo 700p, and she emphasized that Cingular was not going to be getting that device at all. One unanswered question I had regarding a feature that the 700p does not have is whether any of these new BBs do Bluetooth voice dialing (and I'm not talking about the $4-5 extra "Voice Connect" plan that Cingular's hawking). Anyone know? BTW, I think that if the 700p were being carried by Cingular, serious PDA smartphone shoppers would consider it at least as much as a BB.

Well....
I'm only 15 years old and I use the blackberry 8700c because my family likes to keep in touch, I also have a few other friends with BB's and treo's. I personally like the BB more because it has PIN on it which sends messages directly to another BB, also.. The treo resets constantly and I feel the Palm OS is a horrible OS. BB OS is a great feature, and the BB keeps you always ontop of your work. yes, it would be nice to see a BB with a camera, and mp3 players on it but I dont really see the need. + no one will ever have the same type of Push Email
